A simple way to stick to a healthy plant-based diet: Vegan meal delivery
12/16/2021
It’s no wonder many people find it challenging to both eat healthy and handle life’s responsibilities these days – our modern society tends to be super busy. Many people want to eat healthy, so they try eating more vegan or plant-based foods. Unfortunately, they don’t have enough hours in the day to spend on meal preparation! Luckily, there is a solution – and that is vegan meal delivery.
But what does the word "vegan" even mean anyway?
The Vegan Society defines it this way:
"Veganism is a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude—as far as is possible and practicable—all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose....In dietary terms it denotes the practice of dispensing with all products derived wholly or partly from animals" (1).
In other words, vegans don't eat animals or any kind of food from animals. The Vegan Society goes on to say, "one thing all vegans have in common is a plant-based diet avoiding all animal foods such as meat (including fish, shellfish and insects), dairy, eggs and honey" (1).
Vegans consume plant based food to avoid animal cruelty as much as they can. However, there are other reasons why a person might follow a plant based diet. Medical News Today states:
"Whereas veganism is a philosophy based on avoiding animal cruelty, when someone chooses a plant-based diet, it tends to be for other reasons, such as their health or the environment....Some people choose to eat a plant-based diet for environmental reasons or for health reasons, such as to lose weight" (2).
A growing number of companies are catering to those who are conscious of their health and their environment by offering vegan and plant-based meals on demand, delivered straight to your door. Each company puts its own creative spin on the meals offered, but their mission is essentially the same: to provide people with healthy meal options while they balance their busy lifestyle. They do all the work; you get to eat the good stuff!
Those people who do choose a vegan meal delivery plan are willing to invest in their health and save time. Some examples of health goals may include:
- Losing weight
- Having more energy
- Having a clearer mind
A vegan meal plan is valuable when it is also gluten-free. People also want gluten-free food and to eat “closer to the plant”, whether it be for health or ethical reasons. Ingredients that are Non-GMO (Non-Genetically Modified Organisms) are also highly sought after in the health and natural food space. A growing number of consumers in the United States require the food they eat to be Non-GMO, following the advice of scientists, and environmental and consumer groups that mention health and environmental risks associated with foods that have GMO ingredients (3).
Diseases such as celiac disease also cause people to seek gluten-free foods when they go grocery shopping.
But what happens when you don’t have much time to grocery shop for vegan foods, or you just want to save that time to take care of other things on your to-do list?
You choose vegan meal delivery!
With vegan meal delivery, you have the choice. You can either have all the vegan ingredients necessary for a meal shipped to your doorstep, or you can get ready-to-eat plant-based meals that you simply heat up in the microwave or on the stove!
Vegan meals come in many different forms – salads, soups, and bowls are a few of the most popular. And if you’ve been around any vegan forum long enough, you’ll undoubtedly read about the infinite ways you can combine all these tasty plant-based ingredients into smoothies. A blender is definitely a vegan’s best friend! Luckily some vegan meal delivery services also offer smoothies to order.
Even if you don’t go fully vegan or plant-based, there is another option, and that is to eat a flexitarian diet. Flexitarians don’t fully cut out eating meat, but cut back significantly on including meat in their meals. Blogger Chrissy Carroll explains, "Combining the words 'flexible" and 'vegetarian,' this diet proposes that you can reap many of the benefits of a vegetarian diet while still enjoying meat when the craving strikes" (4).
Not everybody is ready to transition "cold turkey" to a plant-based diet. Plant-based meal delivery can help these flexitarians with premade meals that increase their plant and vegetable intake while they enjoy occasional meat and other non-vegan food.
Nowadays we have so many options to eat healthy, and eating vegan or plant-based has become a very popular option. When you don’t have much time to cook, opt for vegan meal delivery. It’s simple and easy to order vegan meals online, and have them delivered straight to your door.
